“A fiery visual feast”

As mid August turns towards September, Lana Borrett gives us the latest update from lovely Docton Mill Gardens and Tea Room.

"The garden is glowing with colour in anticipation of the autumn, with a fiery visual feast of Crocosmias and Heleniums. In the herbaceous borders the purples of many varieties of Veronica, Verbena and Agastache are intertwined with beautiful pink Cosmos, scented Nicotiana and Cleomes. These annuals burst through the perennials forming a tapestry of texture and colour. Japanese Anemones are a favourite of mine, tall and elegant flowerheads in the borders.

This is the Fuschia season, some bold and blowsy, others pale and delicate. We have many around our tea terrace area to enjoy. Roses are producing their second flush, our ‘Felicia’ rose bank is a picture again.

We are serving a mouth watering selection of cakes in our tea room, home made fruit cake, coffee cake, lemon drizzle and of course chocolate sponge, to name a few. Our brownies and caramel shortbreads are also very popular. We serve lunches until late afternoon, a wide selection of salads served with locally sourced fish, meat and cheese. It is so lovely to enjoy a meal in the wonderful setting of the garden."
