Little Nod is the perfect get-away-from-it-all accommodation: a wonderfully equipped home-from-home set in tranquil, unspoilt Welcombe, just a mile and a half from the beach - and a stone's throw from the pub!
This relaxing cottage sleeps four in one double and one bunk room. The open plan living room/kitchen/dining room has everything you could need to make your stay comfortable and easy, there's even wifi and anytime calls, a flatscreen TV with Freeview and DVD player, a CD player and selection of games, books and films. The cottage has its own patio, a shared garden and parking for one car. Well behaved dogs are very welcome.
Just nearby is the vibrant Old Smithy Inn, a true rural gem of a pub with excellent food, real local ales and good wines. There's a lovely beer garden to enjoy on a summer's day and an open fire in wintertime. Dogs, children and walking boots are all welcome and it even has wifi. The village shop offers a pre-ordering delivery service for your arrival and has a post office counter 2 mornings a week. There is also a small working pottery just up the road. The Hartland pubs, shops, crafts and events are nearby and Bude, with its two long sandy beaches, restaurants, pubs and festivals is about 20 minutes away by car.
Welcombe itself is on the North Devon/Cornwall border and is popular with walkers, surfers and families. Visitors return year after year to enjoy the peace, quiet and natural beauty of the area. There is a large nature reserve nearby, as well as the South West Coast Path. The wooded coombes and sunken leafy lanes are crowded with primroses in Spring. The beautiful beach is just a mile and a half away, accessible by car (there's a small, free car park) and on foot down the lane and through the wooded valley.
The combination of Little Nod's relaxing comfort and the beautiful surroundings means that visitors want to come back again and again and again... Sue and Mick, who live in the village and do all the maintenance and cleaning themselves, have run Little Nod since 1999 and have scores of comments like those below for every one of those years:
"This is our fourth visit to Little Nod! This time just a long weekend, I wish it could have been longer! The three of us walked every day as always and avoided the rain somehow. Thank you Sue and Mick for everything (Perfect as always) and can't think of staying anywhere else now. Welcombe and Marsland valleys are so beautiful. Have a wonderful Christmas both of you and we will see you in April if not before for a long weekend. Thank you." Helen, Molly & Kitty
