Tucked away on the coastline in north-west Devon and close to the borders of Cornwall, Southole Barns is a haven of peace and tranquillity. Nestling in a secluded south facing valley in a designated Coastal Preservation Area, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Nature Conservancy Zone, the Barns enjoy amazing views amidst the timeless beauty of the North Devon countryside and coastline.
With the South West Coastal Path on your doorstep Southole Barns is an ideal retreat for nature lovers and walkers. To the south the path leads down to unspoilt Welcombe Mouth Beach, to the north the drama of the Hartland Peninsula unfolds before you. We’ll happily provide advice and guidance about walking routes and offer a pick-up/drop off service when possible.
Southole Barns were built over 150 years ago and recently painstakingly and beautifully refurbished to form a courtyard of high quality, tastefully appointed and comfortable self-catering barn conversions. The courtyard is a pretty cobbled and paved centre piece, ideal for enjoying a morning coffee or sundowner.
The property stands within acres of gardens and meadowland with a beautiful stream-fed pond attracting birds, dragonflies and deer. The communal gardens are the ideal place to unwind to the sounds and sights of nature and watch the sunset. At night, due to the total lack of light pollution, the stars are incredibly bright and you can often see the Milky Way.
The Barns:
All the barns are fitted, decorated and furnished to a very high standard and include every convenience including wood burners in some of the barns. Dogs are welcome in Clovelly Barn and Smudgers Barn.
Week St. Mary Barn – Sleeps 2 – A single storey barn, master bedroom with super-king size bed & ensuite shower room. Open plan living/dining area with kitchen, wood burner.
Roseland Barn – Sleeps 4 – A single storey barn, with a king master bedroom, twin bedroom, dining room, shower room, galley kitchen, dining area, wood flooring throughout and a cosy living room.
Clovelly Barn – Sleeps 2 – Light and airy single storey barn with super king bed, stunning en-suite with roll top bath, open plan fresh and bright living space and patio doors from bedroom and living space onto patio area with countryside views. One small/medium dog welcome in this barn.
Greenway Barn – Sleeps 4 – A two storey upside down barn. The master bedroom has a grand four poster double bed, a second twin bedroom and a new shower room make up the ground floor. Stairs lead to a large open plan, living/dining and kitchen area, log burner, wood flooring throughout and stable door to a private sunny patio garden.
Smudgers Barn – Sleeps 2 – a single storey spacious stable conversion set across the quiet lane from the other barns in the grounds of a pretty cottage. Super-king bedroom, shower room, Spacious living and dining area and well-equipped kitchen for a home from home. With enclosed cottage garden with ample seating for outdoor life, and a meadow for a morning stroll, this barn accepts up to two medium dogs.
