The article focusses on the herbaceous border and the summer garden but Docton Mill attracts attention all year round and all over the world. Visit Britain featured it in its overseas magazine (resulting in some wonderful reviews from American visitors) and the Daily Telegraph published an article accompanied by a particularly beautiful dawn photograph of the mill gardens and daffodils (you can see it here).
But it isn’t just the gardens that attract attention – the food and drink draws raves reviews too. It has been voted Best Tea Room and Best Cream Tea in Devon and Editor’s choice by Visit Britain. The crab sandwiches (from locally sourced crabs) and the home made cakes particularly seem to cause visitors to wax lyrical… as seen in this review from a recent staying visitor to the area.
